As Christ followers, we love reading books, attending Bible studies, Bible conferences and seminars. Many Christ followers are convinced that absorbing the most information equates spirituality. James encourages us to be “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. “(James 1:22). In other words, don’t talk being merciful, lend a hand and help a person in need. Don’t read more books about how to share one’s faith, step out and do it! Don’t pound a pulpit about generosity; give. Just do it. We will not be met at the gates of heaven by some angel with a clipboard who asks, “And how many Bible conferences and seminars did you attend in your lifetime on earth?” According to a variety of Scriptures the question we do need to answer: “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not the things which I say?”
